Frequently Asked QuestionsWhat are the system requirements for using the Chessagent?The minimum system requirements for using the Chessagent are: · Pentium 200MHz (or faster) IBM compatible PC · Windows 98 SE, Windows NT 4.0, Windows ME or Windows 2000 · Internet Explorer 5 (or higher) · 32MB of RAM memory (64MB recommended) · 2MB of free hard disk space · 256 colour (or higher) display with 800 x 600 (or higher) resolution Will the Chessagent work with a Netscape Browser? No. You can only use the Chessagent with an Internet Explorer browser version 5 or higher. What other features does the Chessagent have? Saves you time - the Chessagent will automatically retry webpages and images that have failed to download. It will retry from the point of failure, saving you surfing time. Does the Chessagent monitor which web pages I look at? No. We have a strict privacy policy and do not use cookies to spy on you or monitor your activity across websites. Can I uninstall the Chessagent? Yes. You can uninstall the Chessagent by removing the program through your Windows Control Panel Settings. Before removing the program ensure that you have exited the Chessagent through the Control Panel. Why will the Chessagent not display in some web pages? Some web pages are designed in such a way that inserting the Chessagent would adversely affect the design of the site. Therefore the Chessagent detects such sites and chooses not to display itself on these pages so your surfing experience is not affected. Why can I not see the Chessagent at all? The Chessagent is inserted into the top of every web page you look at. You will need to start surfing the web before the Chessagent will appear. The first time you start the Chessagent, your web browser may display pages from its cache, which means the Chessagent, will not have a chance to display its self. As you continue to surf, the Chessagent will be displayed in pages that you have not recently visited. With some versions of Windows the Chessagent cannot automatically configure your web browser. Look at the 'Advanced Help Section' within 'Control Panel' once you have downloaded your Chessagent, for information on how to manually configure your browser. When I run the Chessagent the splash screen appears but disappears without starting in the system tray? On some old versions of Windows the Chessagent will fail to run. We recommend you install the latest service packs from Microsoft. When I run Chessagent why do I get a message saying that the software will only work on Microsoft Java Virtual Machine builds 2435 or higher? The internet browser you are runing has an old version of the Java Virtual Machine. This can easily be upgraded either from the Microsoft website or from and CD containing Internet Explorer 5 or 5.5.
