The highest level game of chess ever played on Twitter will launch the London Chess Classic today at Olympia. The players' press conference will conclude at 2.45 at which point Boris Becker will tweet the opening move on behalf of the players who will take on the rest of the Twittersphere. Some readers may remember that Boris played Garry Kasparov on CNN in 2000 and opened with 1.e4 e5 2.Qh5!? to which Kasparov retorted " aha, he hits the ball over the net!"
Your correspondent ventured down to Wimbledon on Tuesday night to give Boris a refresher. He has a great eye for tactics and now his new coach has convinced him not to move his queen too early in the game. To follow the game this afternoon, go to londonchessclassic.com where the live board will be shown. To make a move on Twitter either reply to @londonclassic or use #lccvworld
GM Stephen Gordon is on the commentary team for the London Chess Classic. In this game his tricky move order secures the important d4 square and with central control White is well placed to attack the black king.
